Discussion Questions:
How does Paul mix his metaphors in verses 6-7? What do these different images teach us about life with Jesus?
“All real knowing comes from God because He’s the architect and author of everything. All truth ultimately belongs to Him, and all facts are His. We know the things we know because God has revealed it to us. Even more, Jesus, as God's image, most fully reveals God to us. So if we desire to know God, and know ourselves, and gain wisdom for life, we need to be connected to Jesus in relationship.” Do you agree? If so, what does this mean for our lives? If not, why?
Rooting ourselves in Jesus means putting our roots down in a local expression of Jesus’ body on earth. How does this entire passage, but especially verse 2, make this point? Has this truth proven true in your experience?
The sermon mentioned two ways that this rootedness in the body of Jesus challenges the way we’re accustomed to think and act. What were they? Do you resonate with one or both of them? Reflect.
