Discussion questions:
1. How does Jesus being “the fullness” point us to the problem that Paul was writing to address? In what ways do we still face that problem today? What situations are you facing where you need to remind yourself that Christ is the fullness and you are full in him?
2. We get the fullness of Christ in fellowship with Christ. How does Paul describe that fellowship in verses 11-12? If Paul’s point is that what happened to Christ happened to us, what do you think Paul means by “the circumcision of Christ”? What has that circumcision accomplished?
3. Paul says in Christ we have freedom from the guilt and power of sin. Discuss Paul’s vivid language in describing these (our record of wrongs were “nailed to the cross” and the rulers have been “disarmed” and “put to open shame”). Why do freedom from sin’s guilt and power go together? Which one are you more likely to take for granted or struggle to believe?
