Discussion questions:
1. Paul's language about "filling up what is lacking in Christ's afflictions" might shock us. What does this phrase mean (and not mean)? How does an event from Paul's own life help us understand how the ascended Christ can still be afflicted? Discuss the principle of "cruciformity" and what it means in your own life.
2. Paul is a steward of the mystery: "Christ in you, the hope of glory." Discuss what both "Christ in you" and "the hope of glory" mean. How does being a steward of this same mystery change your view of suffering and bring you hope in trials?
3. When we walk the walk of ministering to others, God’s power sustains us. Where do you see this in v. 29? How does this help you articulate the relationship between God's working and our working? Think of a relationship or difficult situation in your life where you will press forward trusting that God will work as you work.
