What kind of sin is Micah addressing in chapter 2? Name some areas today where as Christians we might confuse what is legal with what is ethical. Are there places we have joy over prosperity gained at the expense of the weak and the marginalized?
In what ways did Micah’s hearers use theology as a way of avoiding God’s word of warning? What kind of preacher did the people want? Where are we guilty of thinking about preaching as the source of what we want to hear rather than what we need to hear?
Discuss the image of the sheep in the fold and the shepherd who breaks them out. How is this good news to both the oppressed and oppressors? What should our lives look like when King Jesus leads out of oppression and captivity and into freedom?
